We are short of helpers for our Open Day on 18th July. The refreshment rota is looking particularly thin. If you could spare an hour or so to help out with refreshments or other tasks, please contact either Dawn on firstname.lastname@example.org or Sylvia and Miriam on email@example.com
This weekend is WORKING PARTY weekend, preparing the site for our Open Day on 18th July. So members if you can spare a couple of hours on Saturday or Sunday morning between 10 and 12 there will be a hedge to trim a path to clear or another task for you to do. On Saturday there will be free refreshments. Sunday is our usual monthly COFFEE MORNING as well and normal prices will be in place for the refreshments. You will be welcome on either morning and your assistance is much appreciated. Thank you
Please note the previously distributed AGM agenda has now been revised and is now attached below. Please note this advises members of a change of venue, it is now being held by the clubhouse on the allotments.
Additionally the time has been bought forward to 7:15pm so we can complete the business before it gets too dark. Also please can members now bring their own refreshments.
Parking will also be limited so if members can walk or cycle to the site, all the better! We may also have to limit numbers to comply with Covid 19 regulations so please get there early to secure a seat.
Hawkinge Allotments Open Day 2021
We are proposing to hold our OPEN DAY this year on Sunday 18th July, from 1:00pm, to which all members and their families are invited, together with friends and the local community. There is, however, a significant amount of work which goes with the event that we need help with from the membership.
To begin with the site needs to be looking its best for the day, so we are having two Working Party Days on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July from 10 am til Noon on each day. Refreshments will be provided on Saturday. As Sunday is the first Sunday in the month, we will be having our normal Coffee Morning anyway, so refreshments and cake will be available. There will be lots of hedge trimming etc that will need to be done so please help if you can.
The main event for the Open Day is the presentation of the prizes for the best plots. There are three categories, The Best Full Plot, The Best Half Plot and The Best Newcomer (New plotholders from1st July 2020 are all eligible). If you do not wish to participate in the competition, please inform Dawn the Treasurer. (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) The Judging for the competition will take place during the first two weeks of July, so there is still time to spruce up your plot! (The judging criteria is available on the website)
Also, at the Open Day we will have a second-hand Book Stall and a raffle, as well as the usual refreshments and cakes. If you are able to make a donation of books, cakes or an item for the raffle please let Dawn know and bring them to either the Coffee Morning on 4th July or on the actual day. If you are able to help out on the day, serving teas, manning a stall etc, please also let Dawn know.
At the event in July, we will be following all the appropriate protocols with regard with regard to the Covid 19 virus, Social Distancing etc. We will also be asking people to check in via the NHS app on our unique QR code.
