The attached document lists the results of our best plot competition that were announced at the Open Day last Sunday (17th July). The actual judging took place in the last week of July and was judged by an independent RHS qualified and approved garden and allotment judge and most importantly does not know anyone from the Society as they live on the other side of the county. This insures a complete bias free assessment based solely on the criteria that can be found on our website, which includes cultivation, cropping, quality, pests and diseases and a miscellaneous heading including composting and wildlife features.
The People’s Choice winner on the other hand is an opportunity for visitors to the Open Day to have a bit of fun and make their choice as to who they think has the best plot, based solely on their observations walking around the site. The only criteria being, you cannot vote for your own plot!
For the first time in the Allotment Society’s short history, the winner of the best plot competition was the same in both categories, the best full plot and the People’s Choice. Additionally the winner of the best Newcomer award (someone who has had a plot for less than a year) was also the winner of the best half plot. Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who took part.
