Events in 2022 Latest Information

Your Committee met recently and have agreed some dates for events for the coming year, please make a note in your diary and we look forward to seeing you at some of them:- (A summary of all the dates can be found here)

Coffee Mornings will be held on the first Sunday of the month starting next month, March 6th (Weather permitting) until October. Each session from 10am till Noon. The April session will therefore be on 3rd. For the May coffee morning we will combine the weekend with a Working Party on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May. The June date coincides with the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations so we plan to have our own picnic to celebrate the BIG LUNCH on Sunday June 5th instead of a coffee morning. Full details will be published nearer the time, though the basic requirement will be to bring your own food for a picnic lunch starting around midday. Here is a picture from a previous royal celebration held at the allotments a few years ago, so you know what to expect.

The next session on 3rd July will also be a mini-working party as well as a coffee morning to make final preparations for the Allotments OPEN DAY which will be held on Sunday 17th July.

The Open Day is an opportunity to show off your plot and maybe collect your prize in our Best Plot competition. Entry is automatic unless you ask to be excluded and judging takes place in Mid-June. There is a cup and prize for the best FULL PLOT, the best HALF PLOT and the best NEWCOMER. Plaques with the previous years winners can be seen in the Clubhouse. It is also the day we open to the public at large so friends, relatives and local visitors are all welcome. Full details of opening times etc will be circulated in due course. The remaining three months sessions will be held on August 7th, September 4th and October 2nd.

This year we have decided to relaunch our SUNFLOWER competition, last year many plot holders grew sunflowers, so we thought members would like to see the competition for the tallest sunflower again this year. Entry forms will be available later on, though now is the time to think about which variety of seed you might need to buy to grow the tallest sunflower. Here is a picture of the winner from 2014

The judging will take place on the morning of the September Coffee Morning.

The last and most important date to take note of is for the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) which will be held on Thursday 26th May in the evening. Last year the meeting was held on site and was very successful so we intend to do the same again this year. More details will be announced later, nearer the date.
