Further to the previous message about blight, the committee completed a site inspection yesterday and noticed a number of plots whose potatoes and or tomatoes are affected by blight. We have contacted most plot holders who are affected but would ask you all to be vigilant and remove all traces of blight as soon as it appears. The best action is to remove all foliage and remove from the site.
Please look out for a post about blight resistant potatoes and tomatoes. Many varieties that previously had blight resistance are no longer resistant to the new strains of blight.
We also noticed that some plots are not fully cultivated. We understand that it has been difficult this year. If you are not able to cultivate your whole plot, please ensure you keep the weeds under control by strimming and covering the uncultivated area, this will prevent the spread of weeds to other plots.
